Vegan Crème Brûlée

Crème Brûlée is an indulgent dessert- topped with a signature caramelized sugar crust top. But what if we told you this classic French recipe can be made entirely with plant-based ingredients? Well, it’s true.

Made with our Sprouted Steel-Cut Oats and other clean ingredients, this dairy-free, egg-free, no-bake Vegan Crème Brûlée dessert is easy to make and proves that oats can be much more than breakfast!

Ingredients

1/2 Cup One Degree Organics Sprouted Steel-Cut Oats
1 1/2 Cups Coconut Cream
1/4 Cups Maple Syrup
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
1/4 tsp Salt
2 tbsp Sugar (brûlée topping)

Directions

In a saucepan, bring coconut cream to a simmer.

Add the steel-cut oats and cook on low for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft. Once the oats are cooked add maple syrup, salt, and vanilla essence and mix well.

Make sure the oats have cooled down completely before transferring them to a blender. Blend until smooth and custard-like consistency. Pour the mixture into ramekins ensure that the mixture is flattened in the ramekins before allowing it to set in the fridge between 2-3 hours.

When the filling has set, sprinkle 1 tbsp of sugar on top of each ramekin. Using a kitchen torch melt the sugar until caramelized, if you don’t have a torch you could place the ramekins under the over broiler for a few minutes (watching carefully).

Let the caramelized sugar harden for a few minutes before serving. You could top with fresh fruit for even more bursts of flavor.

Enjoy!
