Made with a versatile and simple spelt pie crust you’ll find in recipes from our Thanksgiving Pumpkin Pie to our Easy Fold-Over Jam Tarts, this dish is so easy to make, it’s an ideal hands-on option for cooking with kids (or when you’re short on time).

Ingredients

Crust:
2 cups One Degree Organics Sprouted Spelt Flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup olive oil

Filling:
4-6 vegan hot dogs

Condiments:
1/4-1/2 cup each of your favorite condiments (we like ketchup and yellow mustard)

Directions

To make crust: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Mix Sprouted Spelt Flour together with salt in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk together cold water and olive oil.

Pour oil and water mixture into flour, and using your fingers combine until dough comes together. Don’t over mix. Roll out dough to desired thickness and cut into strips.

To make the plant-based pigs in blankets: Cut hot dog into finger food sized lengths, and roll in dough strips. Place on your parchment lined cookie sheet, and bake for 20-30 minutes, until pastry is crisp and golden, and hot dogs are hot throughout.

Serve hot with your favorite condiments. Enjoy!
